Short Job Description: 

A global software company, with a small Cape Town office, is looking for an Accountant to assist the Financial Manager. This is an approximate 20 to 25 hour per week role, where you will be mostly office based with opportunities to work from home. To start as soon as possible.

Full Job Description: 

A global IT software company with an office in Cape Town managing the finance and administration of the UK, Europe, Africa and Asia sales operations.  A small team in Cape Town.  You would be reporting to the Financial Manager and working directly with the Managing Director. 

Responsibilities include:

  • General book-keeping
  • Posting of creditor invoices to the ledger
  • Posting of debtor invoices to the ledger, and debtor follow up
  • Posting of bank and credit card, and reconciliations
  • Preparation of sales invoices and purchase orders
  • Monthly account reconciliations and payments
  • Month end journals and balance sheet reconciliations to supporting schedules (accruals, prepayments)
  • Review of travel expenses and reporting
  • Fixed asset register management
  • Assisting with VAT (UK filings) - experience with UK VAT would be advantageous 
  • Posting of payroll journal (payroll completed in UK by payroll provider)
  • Support with Financial, Sales and HR administration


Assist Financial Manager with company and group reporting requirements including:

  • Cash flow projections
  • Monthly payment report
  • Management accounts
  • Sales reporting
  • Annual audit preparation
