Short Job Description: 

A professional services firm is looking for a part-time Bookkeeper / Accountant to assist them in the office for 16 hours per week. The role is flexible and could be 2 full days in the office for 4 half days.

Full Job Description: 

Job, Bookkeeper / Accountant


  • Daily bookkeeping
  • Filing and organising accounting records
  • Manage petty cash
  • Review monthly management accounts
  • Set up and authorise payments
  • Prepare annual budget and presentation 
  • Monitor budget vs actual each month
  • Prepare monthly report 
  • Present reports to the Board 
  • Monitor and manage cash flow
  • Prepare files and documentation for auditors and attend to audit queries
  • Prepare and complete relevant SARS, VAT, UIF, and other filings
  • Manage the payroll and related matters
  • Manage relationships with banks and all banking activities

Qualifications and skills required

  • Accounting degree preferable
  • Essential requirements:
    • At least 3 - 5  years of experience in bookkeeping and accounting, with responsibility for routine financial tasks as well as financial reporting and budget preparation
    •     Excellent computer literacy, including advanced Excel competency
    •     Knowledge of Accounting Systems like Zero, Sage, Pastel
    •     Knowledge of VAT submission process and SARS e-filing
    •     Good verbal and written communication skills
    •     Planning and time management
    •     Accuracy and attention to detail
    •    Knowledge of LegalSuite or legal accounting software - advantageous
    • Please note hours are 8:00 am to 12:30 am Monday to Friday
