Full Job Description: 
 
Main Duties

Initially the main duties will include the following:

·         Reviewing, drafting and negotiating contract documentation: predominantly technology, media and telecommunications-type (“TMT”) work, i.e. framework agreements for software licensing, hardware purchasing, SaaS and related services, non-framework data licensing agreements, proof of concept agreements, sponsorship/donations agreements, marketing and events agreements, and others. Contracts include data privacy, OCIR and cyber security considerations. The work type includes remediation and novation of, as well as amendments to, existing agreements of these types.
·         Conducting quality control of the above-named work types.
·         Liaising with Legal and Sales in respect of negotiations and queries.
 
Candidate Requirements
·         Law Degree from top South African or UK/EU tertiary institution.
·         5+ years’ experience at a law firm or in-house legal department with relevant commercial contract experience (preference will be given to those with experience in technology, media and telecommunications contracts.)
 
Required skills include:
·         Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
·         Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
·         Good time management skills and the ability to operate well in high-pressure environments
·         Ability to work both independently and as an integral part of a team, as well as to take a leadership/QC role over junior team members
·         Risk sensitivity and the ability to know when to escalate an issue
·         Developed skills in legal drafting
·         Familiarity with Microsoft applications
·         Ability to work in an international environment with an understanding of client needs across regions
·         A commercial, proactive and business-like mind-set
·         Be comfortable with technological applications, plus a knowledge of legal review platforms will be beneficial
