This role was previously advertised and now become available again - please feel free to reapply. A Fixed Duration opportunity exists with our client who serves a humanitarian purpose. The Financial Manager’s role is to support, mentor, and improve the finance department and maintain effective performance. The role is to start as soon as possible until the end of Feb 2021 and will allow for work from home initially as per lockdown safety regulations. Thereafter, office presence is required. This role would not suit someone with a notice period.

Work from home until it is safe to work in office. This is an office role based in Milnerton.

Full Job Description: 

The Financial Manager’s role is to support, mentor and improve the finance department and maintain the effective performance of the finance department. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Manage Staff
Oversee and supervise staff in the finance department
Review monthly reporting packs
Monthly risk management and mitigation of risks
Preparation of budgets for fundraising proposals
Preparation and management of project budgets
Preparation and management of company budget
Monthly Reporting
Management of project cost allocation
Review and preparation of Management Reports
Accurate and timeous preparation of financial reports as required by funders
Assess and improve the effectiveness of management reports and cost centre allocations with CFO
Maintain Internal Controls and Compliance
Review and recommend improvements to manual and automated internal controls
Fraud and Risk assessment
Compliance with USAID regulations
Co-ordinate finance-related IT systems
Finance and procurement system support
Audit and preparation of Annual Financial Statements
Facilitate Statutory and USAID audit
Preparation of Fund Accountability Statement
Annual Financial Statements
General Finance Responsibilities
Assist with release payments
Monthly and quarterly reporting

Qualifications, Experience and Key Competencies

BCom degree in Financial Accounting with completed SAICA articles (Honors advantageous)
Minimum 5 years’ experience as Financial Manager
Advanced Computer Literacy (Microsoft Office Suite)
Attention to detail and pro-active management
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Planning and organising skills
Flexible and ability to work independently or as part of a team
High ethical standards
