Full Job Description: 

Financial Manager Job, Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience post professional qualification (post Articles)

• Experience within a similar vertically integrated production – retail environment

• Strong technical understanding of IFRS, taxation, and other legislative requirements

Accounting, financial management and reporting

• Management and oversight of company’s accounting function

• Review and oversee bookkeeping function

• Regulate, verify and authenticate accounting transactions

• Review bookkeepers monthly account reconciliations: Review reconciliation of sub ledgers to the general ledger; maintain general ledger; reconcile accounts and resolve any discrepancies

• Facilitate and complete monthly closure procedures

• Preparation of accurate monthly management accounts and reports: Preparation and review of monthly management accounts, including sales channel analysis, gross profit, and gross margin channel analysis, product and customer analysis, production and inventory analysis, and expense analysis. Report on anomalies and variances. •

Preparation of accurate annual financial statements

• Analysis and annual financial statements

• Preparation of annual forecast and budget: Track variance to forecast on monthly basis. Analysis of actual performance vs forecast on monthly basis (variance analysis)

• Preparation of tax returns and corporate reporting requirements

• Preparation and review of various quarterly and year-end reporting deliverables

• Preparation of statutory financial reports in line with current regulatory requirements

• Preparation of underlying supporting schedules for tax returns (VAT, Income Tax, STATS SA, SARB)

• Maintenance of Fixed Asset Register

• Manage accounts receivable, creditors and accounts payable

• Filtering and ensuring that any ad hoc accounting requirements/queries are addressed and sent out accurately and timeously.

• Oversight of Dear, Shopify and Xero integration and ensuring accurately represented.


• Bookkeeping oversight and management

• Monthly Management Accounts/ Report, including channel, customer, GP, and inventory analysis

• Compilation of annual financial statements and interim financial statement

• Completion and submission of CIPC Annual return and Financial Accountability supplement (FAS) with CIPC. (Confirm annual turnover for each year outstanding. CIPC charges a fee based on turnover. Determine the CIPC fee due for each year and facilitate payment timeously)

• PAYE EMP201 submission: Submit monthly EMP201 PAYE declaration to SARS • PAYE EMP501 submission: Submit interim and final EMP501 declaration to SARS due in Pct and May.

The candidate should have the ability to navigate the following systems:

• Deputy staff scheduling platform

• Simple Pay

• DEAR inventory management system
