Short Job Description: 

A fast-growing empowerment social enterprise is recruiting for a part-time Financial Manager to join their team. The successful candidate must have the necessary tertiary qualification, have strong analytical and Excel skills and be IT savvy. To start in February 2019. This is an initial 12-month contract.

Full Job Description: 

We are a fast-growing empowerment social enterprise, and are recruiting a part-time Financial Manager to join the finance team at our head office in Cape Town. We are looking for an individual who shares our vision to empower unemployed South Africans through enterprise development with the objective of making them financially and socially independent by igniting their entrepreneurial spirit. We currently support and equip over 1000 previously unemployed South African’s per year to have the ability to personally change the course of their destiny. We also have an early childhood development project which is setting up quality preschools in marginalised communities.


Key responsibilities:


  • Management of small finance department
  • Monthly management accounts pack
  • Monitoring of Key performance indicators of Grow project
  • Reporting to Funders on Grow project
  • Management of IT infrastructure and ERP system
  • Oversight of all accounting processes, including Payroll
  • Statutory returns –VAT, NPO, CIPC and tax returns
  • Implementation of internal control and reporting systems
  • Compilation of annual budgets and forecasts for Grow project
  • Management of statutory and funding audits



Requirements and competencies

  • B Comm with at least 5 years financial management experience
  • Strong Excel skills essential
  • Sound IT skills
  • Business savvy and financial acumen
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Decisiveness, initiative, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills



We are wishing to make the appointment effective from 1 February 2019.


20 to 25 hours a week, R20k to R25k monthly salary, 1 year contract.  Group life but no medical aid.
