GL Accountant

Short Job Description: 

The primary purpose of this position is to prepare and process month-end journal entries, reconcile financial statements and accounts, and to ensure a high degree of data accuracy in the General Ledger.  Start date: mid-May ideally.  SAP essential.

Full Job Description:

Start date: mid-May ideally.

Tasks include:
 Perform month-end run and procedures within deadlines (reporting to WD8).
 Prepare and process month-end journals, ready for review.
 Assume overall responsibility for all General Ledger reconciliations
 Analyze GL accounts, ensuring a high degree of data accuracy.
 Perform monthly reconciliations on control accounts.
 Reconcile inter-company accounts and accrue outstanding invoices for month end reporting
 GL Maintenance (maintaining periods in SAP, maintaining GL and customer accounts etc.)
 Staff management (one direct report)
 Assist with all ad hoc tasks required by line manager and executive management.

KEY COMPETENCIES/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Accounting/Finance qualification
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • SAP experience
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • MS Office - advanced Excel
  • Ability to effectively multitask
  • Ability to follow processes and procedures
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good teamwork skills, with the ability to develop strong relationships and to work collaboratively within the group
  • Pro-active approach to implementation of changes in operational and accounting requirements
