An established company that provides investment decision support is looking for an Investment Consultant to provide a high standard of client service to a range of institutional asset owners, which include pension and provident funds, medical aids, and trusts.  This job may be done on a part-time, flexi-time basis.

Full Job Description: 
  • Deliverables range from day-to-day client services management work which includes service delivery, management of client expectations, guiding team members, continuous monitoring and structuring of the client’s portfolio and regular client communication through report-back presentations.
  • Minimum of 6 - 8 years total in the investment/asset management industry doing portfolio structuring, asset allocation, multi-management, giving investment advice to Private and/or Institutional clients
  • Have presented at client meetings and comfortable presenting on financial markets, investment performance, and other investment-related feedback. 
  • Worked for another asset consultant / multi-manager / investment manager / stockbroker / bank
  • Has a good understanding of the financial markets and the ability to communicate the latest developments in these in client presentations and discussion.
  • Solid working knowledge of investment concepts such as understanding asset allocation, ALM concepts, manager research, manager styles, portfolio construction and risk of the asset classes
  • Ability to present, hold and read an audience
  • Create solutions for a wide range of client requirements
  • Take responsibility for and own the delivery to clients & guide/train / support other members of the client team
  • Full ownership of every client “project plan” and overall responsibility for the client team
  • Create integrated and quality solutions for clients through collaboration with other service lines
  • Interpret and translate client requirements into results, together with Senior Consultant where relevant
  • Tailor houseview requirements to client needs, monitor client portfolios
  • Prepare comprehensive documents and presentations for clients
  • Review documents, presentations and reports prepared by client team, provide inputs, guidance and finalise submissions 
  • Speak at conferences / seminars as required
  • Liaise with asset managers and other service providers
  • Provide training to client and explain concepts to different levels of understanding (trustee and member training)
  • Provide guidance on outputs, education, and training for client team 
  • Guide client team on all client deliverables which includes providing guidance on outputs and education/training
  • Collaborate with Senior Consultant on the direction of outputs for clients, sign-off on outputs, obtain strategy input
  • Understand investment mandates and terms and be able to explain to the client accordingly; terms and concepts like ALM and liability-driven investing, strategic asset allocation, rebalancing strategies, benchmarks and manager styles
  • Strong presenting skills, ability to manage difficult questions and deal with Boards of Trustees
