Full Job Description: 

Responsibilities:

  • Review all existing agreements, contracts, forms and any other documentation for the entire product suite (life insurance, investments, savings & pensions) currently offered by the company to ensure that the Company is protected from any complaints/claims/legal action from its policyholders and their financial advisors.
  • Ensure that all documentation is in compliance with the applicable legislation.

Required outcomes:

  • Compile a gap analysis as well as recommendations for presentation to the relevant management.
  • Once the recommendations have been vetted and approved by management, the candidate is to implement the required changes.

Ad hoc

  • Draft amendments where required and draft new agreements, contracts, forms and any other documentation as and when required by the Company.
  • Provide advice and guidance on legal matters related to the Company’s insurance and investment business.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Relevant Diploma or B degree in Paralegal studies, with min 5 years relevant experience in the Investment, Savings, Life Insurance and Employee Benefit Industry.
  • Min 5 years’ experience in Contract Law.
  • Knowledge of the South African life insurance and investment Regulatory and Legislative environment is essential.
  • Knowledge of the life insurance and investment Regulatory and Legislative environment of other jurisdictions, such as Mauritius, United Kingdom, etc is advantageous and must be highlighted in the cv and cover letter
