Established company in the service industry needs an experienced Senior Operations Event Manager to oversee and manage a team of 4 for conferencing, networking and exhibition events. 6 Month contract.

Full Job Description: 


A team of 4 and requires some leadership to tie events together and smooth out any cracks overall.  Looking for a person who has a huge amount of attention to detail, who has the ability to multi-task, make logical decisions and manage operational expenses closely and effectively.

The role will start as a part-time position 6-month maternity contract. but may develop into a full-time role.


  • At least 5 years of events and operations experience
  • 5 years of management experience

Team Managmemnt

  • Impart knowledge on junior team members
  • Direct the team to adopt good event management habits
  • Find efficient store room packing and inventory process for the team to adhere to, to ensure all event materials get to and from events
  • Develop checklists for the team to work to and manage their processes
  • Improve processes that already exist
  • Adopt new processes to encourage time-saving
  • Close loopholes for all possible tasks to fall through the cracks

Onsite Event Management

  • Project Manage team onsite for large scale events (exhibition and conference)
  • Ensure suppliers and project team deliver on the necessary logistics timeously and professionally 
  • Ensure experience management onsite and delivery for event attendees 

Supplier Management

  • Track supplier pricing, discounts and service levels
  • Manage supplier relationships
  • Negotiate better pricing and discounts with suppliers

Cost Management

  • Analyse and find better, more cost-effective ways to run events
  • Able to work on multiple events simultaneously
  • Review all supplier invoices and ensure that we are getting good quality, well-priced goods
  • Understand all supplier contracts and minimise risk wherever possible
  • Streamlining processes and possibly bulk purchasing to reduce overall costs to events


  • Communication skills need to be on a very high level, written and spoken (English)
  • Increase efficiency through new processes
  • Must be able to write clear and concise emails to suppliers as well as communicate details to the market from time to time
  • Purchasing the right equipment for the office and on-site at events
  • Polishing and maintaining event checklists for all events and ensuring that the team is following them
  • Ensuring that all event arrangements are in line with the brand and up to SPW expectations
  • Delegate, SMME, Sponsor and Visitor event experience needs to be polished and thoroughly considered and perfected before every event
  • Standardising processes to allow for easier event prep for repeat events
